The Art

Jin Shin Jyutsu (pronounced ‘jit-su’) is the art of releasing tensions that cause pain, illness and disease. Our bodies have several energy pathways which feed energy to all our cells. Jin Shin Jyutsu works on these energy path-ways. When one or more of these pathways become blocked it may lead to discomfort or even pain. This stagnation or blockage not only can disrupt the balance of the body, it can eventually disharmonise the complete path(s) of the body's energetic flow.

Through Jin Shin Jyutsu we have the ability to harmonise and balance ourselves physically and emotionally.

The Background

Some say that Jin Shin Jyutsu has a history spanning over 5000 years. In the archives of the Imperial Palace of Japan, as recorded in the kojiki (record of ancient Japan AD712) - it can be seen that Jin Shin Jyutsu existed before the birth of Buddha and Moses.

It was revived as a healing art in the early 1900's by master Jiro Murai, who came from a long line of medical professionals. Through Mary Burmeister, who studied with Jiro Murai for many years, Jin Shin Jyutsu was brought to the USA , and is now practised throughout the world.

The Treatments

Jin Shin Jyutsu can be described as acupuncture without needles. The hands are used as ‘jumper cables'. Treatment is based on a 12-organ flow concept utilising 26 Safety Energy Locks on each side of the body (similar to acupoints or pressure points). The practitioner places fingertips (over clothing) on these points in a sequence or “flow”.

Sessions typically begin with the practit-ioner listening to the pulses at the wrists, and using the pulse information to choose a flow. Sessions generally last one hour, and simple self-help exercises may be given to do at home.
